CUSTOM TOURS

Porcelain Heaven

In this tour, you can experience this Japanese tradition by visiting the pottery studios whose craftsmen have kept it alive for 400 years. You will also visit sake breweries, ochoko cup in hand, amidst the old-fashioned streets of Arita. The sake here gets its excellent taste from water derived from immaculate natural sources, and from the rice farming techniques which use that water.

Sacred Mountains

For 1,400 years ago, Mount Haguro has been the destination and center for Haguro Shugendo followers. Shugendo is a form of mountain worship unique to Japan that mixes elements of nature worship and esoteric Buddhism.

Mount Haguro is regarded as a mountain to pray for happiness in the present life (present), Mount Gassan a mountain to pray for tranquility in a previous life (past) and Mount Yudono a mountain to pray for reincarnation (future).

This pilgrimage, which was said to allow one to be reborn as a new spirit while living, became popular among Edo-era commoners as a “journey of reincarnation” spanning present, past, and future.
